Background

Recently,  Ta’dib International Foundation, RZS-CASIS of UTM together with Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation and in partnership with QSR Brands and the World Trade Centre (Kuala Lumpur) was honoured to have been given the opportunity to co-organise an inaugural lecture by The Honourable Tan Sri Professor Dr Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas in conjunction with the launching ceremony of his latest book, Islām: The Covenants Fulfilled. The event was held at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of 29th July 2023.

The event was very successful and received an extraordinary response as it was attended by 1400 people, consisting of Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, royal family, national leaders, top government management, UTM and Ta'dib International Foundation, scholars, professionals, domestic and foreign students.

In his lecture, Professor al-Attas expounded a couple of important points in his book, Islam: The Covenants Fulfilled. Initially, he explained the subtleties of understanding the relationship between the soul and the body of a human being. He then elucidated the historical progression of revealed religion culminating in Islam.

While the lecture was relatively brief due to time constraint, it was full of insight and inspiration.

Following that, on the 21st of October 2024, at Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya, The Honourable Tan Sri Prof. Al-Attas gave an Extempore Speech as a continuation of the previous lecture to further explain the contents of the book.

In this upcoming lecture, The Honourable Tan Sri Prof. Al-Attas will continue his discourse on the idea of millah in relation of dīn in Islam, how the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. fulfils the covenant, as well as his role as the Law Giver.
